The Association for Investigative Journalism in Finland

The Association for Investigative Journalism in Finland is a non-profit organization created to improve in-depth and critical journalism. The goal of the Association is to promote cooperation between journalists and to encourage them to dig beneath the surface.

The Association, established in 1992, provides training and inspiration for journalists working in both  printed and audiovisual media. In yearly seminars, journalists are invited to share their experiences and learn from each other.  The Association also aims to provide practical tools for journalists to use in their daily work by arranging courses, e.g. in computer-assisted reporting (CAR).

The Association is open to people who are interested in promoting investigative journalism in Finland, i.e. journalists, photographers, researchers, teachers and students. Currently the number of members is about ninety. The Association hopes to increase its membership and provide even better support for its members as well as improving the quality of investigative journalism in Finland.

The Association for Investigative Journalism in Finland collaborates with other associations of investigative journalism, especially those in Nordic countries. The representatives of the association participate in international meetings and seminars and welcome international cooperation with other associations and investigative journalists in other countries.
